State Election Commissioner and General Prosecutor Convene to Enhance Cooperation for Electoral Integrity

Today, State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi met with the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Albania, Olsian Çela, and discussed enhancing inter-institutional cooperation to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, guaranteeing fair, free, and legitimate elections.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed on adopting a new and more proactive approach to investigating and prosecuting electoral law violations, particularly those involving criminal offenses that fall under the prosecution’s jurisdiction in the electoral process. This commitment intends to prevent and address any actions compromising the integrity of the elections. 

The Central Election Commission and the General Prosecutor’s Office will expand their cooperation with the State Police nationwide to strengthen oversight and facilitate a prompt response to electoral irregularities. 
Furthermore, both institutions will establish a coordination protocol, designating contact persons from the General Prosecutor's Office to be stationed at the Central Election Commission, thus having real-time access to information from all polling stations. 
The General Prosecutor informed the State Election Commissioner of the measures being planned to organize the prosecution’s structures handling electoral matters, in cooperation with the State Police, ensuring a prompt response to any illegal activities undermining the integrity of the elections

The institutional coordination protocol regarding the electoral process will guarantee a swift and professional exchange of information, along with close cooperation in addressing violations of electoral law.
The State Election Commissioner and the General Prosecutor reaffirmed their full commitment to ensuring a reliable electoral process, free from any form of interference or abuse.
