Albania Only Country in Europe without Vaccine Contract, Budget; DP
Only Albania has been left without any contract and approved budget for the anti-coronavirus vaccine, relying solely on the agreement with COVAX when about 5.5 m doses are needed, denounced Wednesday the Former MP of Democratic Party (DP) Tritan Shehu.
Shehu also praised the decision of the Kosovo government for approving the 40 million EUR fund to buy the vaccine against coronavirus and attacked Prime Minister Edi Rama, who according to him, is "leading" Albanians towards "immunization of the herd".
“The Government of Kosovo approves a special fund of minimally 40 M E to buy the Covid Vaccines directly, for the entire population.
Kosovo has also applied to COVAX like Albania, but realizing the slowness and small amount provided by that mechanism, is now looking to buy vaccines directly.
Albania thus remains the only country in Europe ‘in open sea’, without any contract and any approved budget for the vaccination, based only on the ‘engagement agreement’ with COVAX, where it has paid 1.4 ME, when the country needs about 5.5 M dosesâ€, declared the Democrat.
