Albania Opens Final Negotiation Cluster in EU Accession Talks
Albania has opened the final cluster of chapters in its European Union accession negotiations, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Tuesday.
Rama described the move as a “record achievement,” noting that all negotiation clusters were opened within 12 months — the fastest pace recorded in the EU enlargement process.
In a post on social media, the prime minister said that “nothing can stop us on our path towards Albania 2030 in the EU”, adding that the government’s goal is to complete the negotiation process by 2027.
Rama highlighted the country’s economic growth, rising wages and pensions, as well as increased domestic and foreign investment, while stressing that no new taxes had been introduced during this period.
The European Commission and EU member states have yet to comment on the timeline proposed by the Albanian government, but the opening of all negotiation clusters marks a significant step in the country’s path toward EU membership.
