A total of 26 wildfires have been reported across Albania over the past 24 hours, with four fires remaining active and two others under surveillance, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Authorities have deployed 315 operational personnel and 25 firefighting vehicles to respond to the fires. Four helicopters and 75 members of the Armed Forces have also been involved in the operations.

The most challenging situation has been reported on Mount Dajti, in the direction of Qafë-Priskë, where authorities have recorded flare-ups and an expansion of the flames. The firefighting operation there involves 15 firefighters, nine personnel from the Protected Areas Administration and 20 members of the Armed Forces.

In the Dibër region, fires remain active in Qafë e Helmës, Vajkal and Sllatinë.

In Vajkal, authorities have deployed 38 firefighters and municipal personnel, along with 30 members of the Armed Forces. In Sllatinë, 91 personnel are involved in the response. Authorities said there is currently no threat to populated areas.

Meanwhile, in the Elbasan region, fires on Mount Dardhë and Mount Qukës remain under surveillance and do not pose a threat to nearby homes, according to officials.

Separately, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake was recorded overnight, with its epicenter in the Vergo administrative unit of Delvinë municipality. Authorities reported no casualties or damage to infrastructure.

The National Civil Protection Agency continues to monitor the situation across the country, while emergency response structures remain on standby.

Authorities said the priority remains protecting lives, homes and citizens’ property as firefighting and monitoring operations continue.
