Albania Spends EUR Eight Mln to Buy Military Pilotless Drones

Albania will have military drones of the latest technology for the first time, as agreement for the purchase of military drones in Turkey has already been concretized.

Turkish media "Yeni Åžafak" has even revealed that Albania has spent 8 million EUR for this purchase of the super-intelligent type IHA and SÄ°HA produced by "Baykar Defense" in Turkey drones.

According to "Yeni Åžafak", these are unmanned aerial vehicles, which are produced in the defense industry with (SIHA) weapons, which are armed drones and drones without weapons, (IHA).

However, this agreement was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama since early June. The PM even shared two photos from the meeting with Turkish experts and said that they were drones that would collect and transmit data in real time on roads, coast, agricultural land, forests, public order and more.

On June 22, the government amended the budget by normative act to spend ALL 1 billion on the Ministry of Defense for the provision of drones under the agreement with Turkey and measures to increase territorial control and national security as a whole.

Although the report does not specify that it is a military drone, Turkish media write that in fact SÄ°HA type drones that operate with weapons produced by Turkish engineers act as a strike force as they have integrated ammunition, while IHA type drones operate without weapons serve to monitor and gather information.

The drones that Albania’s Ministry of Defense bought from the Turkish company are today the pride of the Turkish Armed Forces, which they use them for various tactical-military purposes. These drones considered unique have ranked Turkey among the few countries in the world capable in this field.

The premises of the factory where several variants of the drones in question are produced, were visited during this month by the Minister of Interior, Bledi Cuci.

Currently, drones are being used in Albania by the State Police to catch traffic violations of drivers at speeds beyond the norms.
