Albanian Injured by Greek Police after Trying to Rob Bank

A 40-year-old Albanian was injured by Greek police officers in Colonos, after trying to rob a bank. 

The event happened this morning on Palamidi Street in Colonos, Greece. According to what the Greek media write, the police had received a report of attempted theft and as soon as they arrived at the scene, the perpetrator threatened the police officers with a knife. 

It is learned that the arrested person is being treated under the supervision of the police at the Evangjelismo hospital in Athens. 

"In the hours of this morning, in a Bank store in the Omonia area, a Bank employee activated the alarm for a robbery. 

A police officer, who was off duty at the time of the robbery, along with the bank's security officer, followed the perpetrator on foot, who left the scene. 

The police officers of the DI.AS team arrived immediately, as well as an Immediate Action patrol car. The perpetrator, who was found with a sum of money, tried to injure two police officers with a sharp tool, one of whom used the service weapon in self-defence, injuring the perpetrator. 

A preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Crimes against Life and Property," the Greek police said in a statement.
