Portuguese Tourist, 20, Fatally Stabbed in Albania’s Ksamil; Suspect Identified

A 20-year-old Portuguese tourist was stabbed to death this Tuesday in the coastal town of Ksamil, southern Albania.

The victim, identified by his initials as L.V., suffered multiple stab wounds to the back and chest, according to sources familiar with the findings of the doctor who examined the body at the morgue in Sarandë. His death was reportedly immediate.

Police have identified a 29-year-old man, Sokrat Vata, a resident of Has, as the suspected perpetrator. 

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Preliminary information suggests that the altercation may have been linked to a woman, although the exact motive has not been officially established.

The 20-year-old Portuguese national was visiting Ksamil as part of a group of French tourists. Vata was reportedly working as a beach lifeguard at the hotel where the group was staying.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue efforts to locate and arrest the suspect.
