Albanians Celebrate Summer Day as Crowds Fill the Streets of Tirana
Hundreds of citizens filled the streets of Tirana on March 14 to celebrate Summer Day, one of Albania’s most popular traditional holidays.
Favored by sunny weather, families and visitors headed outdoors to enjoy a variety of activities organized across the capital for all age groups, with a special focus on children.
For more than two decades, March 14 has been officially recognized as a national holiday in Albania, marking the arrival of spring and the symbolic start of the warmer season.
Although the celebration takes place throughout the country, the epicenter of the tradition remains the city of Elbasan, where festivities traditionally peak at midnight.
Today, residents in Tirana, Durrës, Vlorë, and other cities across Albania are marking the holiday with outdoor events, music, and gatherings under clear and warm weather.
