The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Enkelejd Alibeaj, has commented on his decision to expell 4 DP MPs from the group. In a statement to journalists from Saranda, he said that he is now the leader of the DP after Basha's departure, clearly underlining 'I am the representative of the Democrats'. 

Alibeaj thus responded to the democrats' moves to dismiss him from the head of the group, proposing Ervin Salianji. 

"I find the opportunity to be among the democrats of Saranda not only to celebrate but also to discuss the state and the political situation in Saranda, the challenges that await us, but also about the developments up in the center. I am the leader of the DP after the secession of Lulzim Basha. I am a representative of all those democrats who have decided to break away from the thirty-something year period of Albanian politics. I understand very well the plight of those who occasionally make these acts of aggression. It is the trouble of Sali Berisha and Edi Rama. I'm already used to these labels, putting me on the side of Edi Rama. The media has made public who was with Edi Rama. Those who are together have reasons for their personal problems", Alibeaj said. 

I understand very well the plight of those who from time to time make these acts of aggression, my fellow MPs who have this kind of political position, I understand their common plight, it is the common plight of Sali Berisha and Edi Rama. We must be honest, we must be honest before the Democrats above all and we must be honest before the whole public. I have no problem, I am perfectly fine and I feel free in this political position and commitment that I have shown during all this time of my active political life. Those who are together have a reason why they are together, they have problems, personal problems, their personal problems show that they are together". 

Among other things, he adds that he agrees that the Democrats should go to the elections together. 

We recall that Alibeaj expelled Oerd Bylykbashi, Belind Kelliçi, Tritan Shehu and Agron Shehaj from the DP group.
