Altin Dumani officially concluded his three-year term as head of Albania’s Special Prosecution Against Corruption (SPAK) this Monday, handing over the leadership to his successor, Klodjan Braho, in a brief ceremony.

Reflecting on his tenure, Dumani described the past three years as one of the most challenging chapters of his career, emphasizing that SPAK is now stronger, more consolidated, and more credible than before.

“The leadership of SPAK has been a great privilege and an extraordinary responsibility. Throughout our work, we faced difficult decisions, institutional challenges, and significant pressures. Today, I can say with confidence that SPAK is stronger and more trusted than ever,” Dumani said.

Braho, SPAK’s third head since its establishment in December 2019, highlighted the support of international partners and pledged to strengthen internal functioning, uphold legal standards, and guarantee the independence of special prosecutors.

“My focus will remain on reinforcing internal operations, strict adherence to legal standards, and ensuring the independence of our prosecutors. SPAK’s mission goes beyond individual mandates. We work as a team, committed to fulfilling our duties to the Constitution and the citizens of Albania,” Braho said.

Braho was elected SPAK chief prosecutor on 11 December with seven out of eleven votes from the High Council of Prosecution, in a process closely watched by international diplomats in Tirana.
