Appeal Court Leaves in Jail, Tirana's Mayor, Erion Veliaj
The Appeal Court against crime and corruption leaved in jail this Thursday the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
Judge Engert Pellumbi did not change his security measure, although it took three days to arrive in this decision.
The lawyer of Veliaj, Maks Haxhia, underlined that there is no reason for Veliaj to remain in jail.
"In order to leave in jail a person, you need to have a complete investigation material", said Haxhia.
He mentioned that Veliaj will appeal the case to the High Court.
"We expect some miracle to happen in the Supreme Court regarding the change of the security measure because the mayor cannot be kept in prison under these circumstances." added Haxhia.
Veliaj is under arrest on corruption charges.
