Azem Hajdari's Murderer Appeals Decision in High Court

Izet Haxhia, who is accused of murdering Azem Hajdar, has filed an appeal in the High Court.

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's ex-bodyguard, Haxhia, opposes the decision of October last year of the Tirana Court of Appeal, which found him guilty and sentenced him to 21 years in prison. We recall that in February 2021, it was the Court of First Instance that gave this decision after this Haxhia requested the reopening of the file described as the "Murder of the Century".

Haxhia was extradited to Albania from Turkey, after he had been arrested there since 2006, while earlier he was sentenced in absentia to 25 years in prison. Meanwhile, the High Court has not yet set the date when it is expected to consider the appeal in the advisory room.
