Former Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku was called again this Friday at the Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) but she refused to make any statement to journalists waiting outside the prosecutor's office.

Balluku spent approximately 20 minutes inside SPAK before departing without responding to reporters' questions.

According to local media reports citing sources familiar with the investigation, prosecutors informed Balluku of new allegations related to the alleged favoritism in the awarding of public contracts for Lots 5, 6 and 7 of Tirana's Outer Ring Road project. The allegations have not been publicly confirmed by SPAK.

It remains unclear whether prosecutors will seek the lifting of Balluku's parliamentary immunity again. The reports also claim that, alongside the investigation into the road tenders, prosecutors are examining the alleged unlawful acquisition of a coastal villa dating back to the period when Balluku served as the head of Albcontrol.

SPAK has not issued an official statement detailing the purpose of Balluku's appearance or commenting on the reported allegations. Balluku has also not publicly responded to the claims.

The investigation remains ongoing.
