Berisha Calls for Protests Against PM Rama, Urges Citizens to Confront Govt
Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha delivered a strong address in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, calling on citizens to confront Prime Minister Edi Rama during his public meetings across the country.
In his speech, Berisha urged supporters to openly oppose Rama, even suggesting symbolic acts of protest during the prime minister’s engagements with various groups, including pensioners. He accused Rama of representing crime and widespread corruption in Albania.
Berisha also called on citizens to unite with the opposition and join a major protest scheduled for April 17 in Tirana, describing it as a decisive moment for political change.
“The movement will not stop until victory,” Berisha declared, emphasizing that, in his view, the government has lost credibility and public trust. He further accused the ruling majority of protecting corruption and failing to serve citizens’ interests.
Addressing pensioners directly, Berisha encouraged them to reject what he described as government neglect and to stand against current policies. He promised that, if the opposition comes to power, pensions and wages would increase significantly, aiming to reach the highest levels in the region within four years.
The Democratic Party leader concluded by calling for continued mobilization, framing the upcoming protest as a peaceful but powerful demonstration against the government.
