Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has addressed Saturday the National Assembly of the Democratic Party (DP), saying that the now-in-opposition political force was re-established so that the national interest of Albanians could be protected in the face of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

After expressing is gratitude to the Democrats that stood by his side, Berisha underlined that this Assembly has been convened not only for the fate of the DP, but of democracy, pluralism and freedoms of Albanians.

"I will begin my speech with a boundless gratitude to you for standing on the highest human ideals, so we are stronger here today. Determining Assembly not only for the fate of the DP, but of democracy, pluralism and freedoms of Albanians.

Former founder, with these delegates, with the new leadership of the DP, we will do everything for the young people, women, ladies, ladies to come out at the top of this party as the safest way to its victory. In this Assembly, we gather proudly that after a unique experience in the history of a political force in Europe we had a second birthday.

On December 11, 2021, in a historic assembly the PD was reborn again, this party never dies. We wanted to erase from the face of the earth the regime based on crime, drugs, hatred towards Albanians.

You joined together and re-founded the DP because we wanted this party as it was born to remain the invincible advocate of the most achieved traditional conservative values.

We were re-established that we wanted to defend the national interest of the Albanians trampled by a bastard albanophobe of the old communist nomenclature that tramples on the dignity and being the interests of the Albanians, Edi Rama”, stated Berisha.
