Bids Invited for New Dhërmi-Saranda Road Project
The Albanian government envisages that the connection between Dhërmi and Saranda will be made through a new road which will avoid passing through residential areas to facilitate traffic.
Earlier, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, stated that Rruga e Bregut will be a continuation of the Dhërmi-Palasa road, a new segment of over 4 kilometers and new.
The expectations are that the road will cross the hilly areas above the villages of the south, thus not encroaching on the coast. It seems that the project is already closer after the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) opened a tender for the study of the design of the coastal road with a limited fund of about Euro 820 thousand.
"What is required in these Terms of Reference is precisely the study and drafting of a detailed project that takes as a basis and implements the standards approved by government decision No. 628 dated 15.07.2015 "Technical Regulation of Design and Construction of Roads", for the road axis "Rruga e Bregut", (Dhermi - Sarandë). The road segment will be classified as Category C2 "Secondary interurban road", in accordance and continuity with the already built road segment (Pala?a - Dhërmi)," the documents state.
According to ARRSH, this road segment aims to: Facilitate traffic movement in the area of ? the country's Riviera; create a comfortable infrastructure for the movement of vehicles in this tourist area; create a modern infrastructure for the movement and safety of pedestrians; create traffic relief in residential areas, from Dhërmi to Saranda.
The starting point of this road segment is already clear and well-defined, which is the roundabout at the end of the "Palasa - Dhërmi" road segment.
"The end point of this road segment is not precisely determined, but it should be near the city of Saranda. The endpoint will be determined according to the needs of the road network (Kardhiq - Delvina, Saranda bypass road, Shijan - Qafë Botë segment) and the Municipality of Sarandë and Delvinë.
The length of the new road is expected to be shortened by 20-30%, as a result of the geometric improvement of the road track.
