Border Police Rescue Nine Foreign Tourists in Two Separate Sea Incidents

Albanian Border Police rescued nine foreign tourists in two separate maritime incidents along the country's southern coastline on Monday, preventing what authorities said could have resulted in serious consequences.

In the first incident, a Spanish tourist was rescued off the coast of Filikur, near Himarë, after his kayak capsized, leaving him stranded at sea. According to Albanian police, the rescue operation was launched immediately after his fiancée alerted authorities. Border Police officers quickly located the man, pulled him from the water and transported him safely to the Himarë Border Control Point.

In a separate operation at around 12:45 p.m. local time, Border Police responded to an emergency involving eight Brazilian tourists from the same family near the area known as the "Three Islands" in Ksamil. Authorities said the family's small plastic motorboat was at risk of sinking.

Using a patrol boat and a jet ski, officers safely evacuated all eight tourists and towed the damaged vessel to Puerto Rico Beach in Ksamil.

Police said all nine tourists were unharmed and in good health following the rescues. The rescued visitors expressed their gratitude to the officers for their swift and professional response.

The Albanian Border Police said it remains committed to ensuring safety at sea and urged boaters and tourists to follow navigation regulations, use appropriate safety equipment and avoid operating vessels in hazardous areas.
