British PM Sunak Praises Migration Deal with Albania

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in an interview for the BBC television network stated that the agreement reached with Albania for the return of illegal immigrants to their homelend is a success.

Sunak said that this agreement with the Albanian Government to fight illegal immigration has brought about a decrease in the number of Albanians who try to illegally cross the English Channel in dinghies to seek asylum in Great Britain.

"Definitely what I believe is that deterrence to stop illegal immigration works. When I became prime minister, I prioritized the agreement with Albania, which is now working for me. We returned 5000 people to Albania as a result of this agreement. What we have seen is that with this agreement, the number of illegal Albanian immigrants coming to Great Britain has dropped by over 90% over the past year."

The latest statistics from the Home Office showed that there was a 93% drop in Albanian immigrants arriving illegally in the United Kingdom during 2023, compared to 2022.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has declared that his "Stop the Boat" initiative has given the right result and that his plan to send illegal immigrants to Rwanda will continue.
