Greece Closes Kapshtica Border Crossing due to Coronavirus Crisis

Hellenic government has decided to close down border crossing point (BCP) with Albania in Krystallopigi, known widely as Kapshtica border point with Albania due to COVID-19 situation, announced Thursday the government spokesman Stelios Petsas.

This measure will enter into force as of Friday morning and all citizens that enter Greece through the land borders will have to undergo virus testing. Furthermore, those people who enter Greece will have to show a negative PCR test conducted 72 hours before arrival to the country.

Meanwhile, the border crossings at Kakavia, Evzoni and Promachonas will remain open, while only trucks will be allowed to enter from Nymphaea, the crossing connecting Greece and Bulgaria, the neighboring country’s media report.

“The situation in our country remains critical. Yesterday's data of EODY showed that the positivity rates in several areas of northern Greece remain at very high levels if we consider that we have been in lockdown mode for weeks. This proves that citizens in many areas are being much more relaxed than the conditions demand”, has declared Petsas during a press briefing.
