Eighth Day of Anti-Zvërnec Protest Ends in Tirana with Expanded Demands and Call for Nationwide Rally
The eighth consecutive day of protests against the Zvërnec project concluded this evening in front of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tirana, as demonstrators continued to voice opposition to the government and broaden their list of demands.
Citizens gathered once again in central Tirana, with the protest evolving beyond its initial focus on the Zvërnec investment plan. During today’s rally, participants also raised additional concerns, including issues related to healthcare, education, agriculture, pensions, and miners’ rights, signaling a widening social agenda.
At the end of the demonstration, organizers issued a call for a nationwide protest scheduled for June 10, urging broader participation across the country.
Earlier in the evening, members of the Democratic Party joined the protest following internal coordination messages circulated to local branches. The SMS reportedly instructed supporters to participate in an organized and unified manner, marking a more visible involvement of opposition structures in the ongoing demonstrations.
The development reflects the continued evolution of the protests, which began as a reaction to the Zvërnec project but have increasingly taken on broader political and social dimensions over the past eight days.
