EUR 2.6M for River Flood Management, Irrigation

The Ministry of Agriculture said it has opened five tenders for contracts for river flood management and rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage systems in the country's south-central regions, with an estimated budget totaling Lek 260 million (Dollar 2.75 million/Euro 2.6 million).

A project with an estimated cost of Lek 104 million involves excavation, filling, gabion installation, and concrete layering work to safeguard the villages of Starova and Remanica in Berat from erosion and flooding along the Osum River, the agriculture ministry said in a tender notice on Monday. The project must be completed within six months.

As many as Lek 101 million are earmarked for flood and erosion protection from the Shkumbin River in the Fatish village near the town of Peqin. The project must be completed within four months.

Some 31.4 million leks are the projected cost of improvements to the irrigation channel “Naun Panxhi” near Elbasan, which must be completed within five months.

A contract for the rehabilitation of the Ura e Kucit irrigation channel in Berat is valued at Lek 16.7 million. The contractor is required to complete the work within three months.

To ensure protection from erosion along the Osumi River in the Vodice village near the city of Polican, within a two-month time frame, 6.8 million leks are allocated. Offers for all tenders can be submitted until May 2.
