Former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku Files Request with Special Court
Former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku has submitted a legal request to the Special Court, seeking the termination of the suspension measure imposed against her.
According to official sources, today at 15:00, preliminary investigation judge Erjon Cela will review the request submitted by Balluku’s lawyers. The defense team is asking the court to revoke the suspension from public office, arguing that the measure no longer has an applicable object.
The lawyers’ request comes just days after the Special Appeals Court judge upheld Balluku’s suspension, shortly after the Constitutional Court published its decision.
However, although the measure was upheld, Balluku’s legal team claims it has no practical effect, since she no longer holds the positions of Deputy Prime Minister or Minister.
Meanwhile, regarding Balluku’s separate appeal to the Supreme Court seeking the annulment of the travel ban imposed on her, the court has appointed Supreme Court judge Ilir Panda as the rapporteur for the case.
