Former University of Elbasan Rector Passes Away at Age 63
The former Rector of the Aleksandër Xhuvani University in Elbasan, Liman Varoshi, has passed away at the age of 63.
The news was announced on the official page of the faculty, where, among other things, expresses condolences to his family and friends. The well-known professor in the city of Elbasan, but not only, had been suffering from a severe illness for years.
Liman Varoshi was born on November 15, 1958. In 1978 he started his university studies and in 1983 he graduated as a "Teacher for high school, with a specialty in History-Geography", at the University of Tirana, at the Faculty of History-Philology.
Especially Professor Varoshi was a tireless researcher of the history of Elbasan and one of the best connoisseurs of historical, political and educational contributions in the last two centuries of this city. He developed his passion and task for scientific research year after year, receiving the degree of "Doctor of Science" in 1999, the title "Associate Professor" in 2004 and "Professor" in March 2012.
Professor Varoshi's university career began with his election as Head of the Department of History and Civil Education from 1996 to 2000. From 1999 to 2008 he was also a member of the academic senate of the University "A. Xhuvani". From 2000 to 2008 he was the Vice-Rector of this university. From 2008 until 2016, for two terms, he was the Rector of this university and at the same time the Head of the Academic Senate.
Professor Varoshi was also a well-known author of texts and monographs. He is the author of "One more space in historical formation", published in 2003, the publishing house "Sejko"; "Balkans between the three empires", publishing house "Naimi", published in 2010; "Cold War" in Eastern Europe, "Naimi" publishing house, published in 2010; "Europeanism as a history of thought", "Naimi" publishing house, published in 2012. Professor Varoshi's last publication was "Phenomena and personalities in Albanology", co-authored.
