Four Albanian Nationals Arrested in Serbia Over Alleged Hate Incitement

Four citizens of the Republic of Albania have been arrested in Serbia, authorities confirmed.

The incident took place on Tuesday and was officially announced by Serbia’s Ministry of Interior through a press release. According to the statement, the Albanian nationals were detained after displaying Albanian national symbols while staying on Serbian territory.

Local authorities stated that the individuals face charges of “inciting national, racial, and religious hatred and intolerance,” a criminal offense under Serbian law.

The ministry’s statement further noted that one of the detainees had posted a video on social media showing the group traveling together in an Audi vehicle. In the footage, which was shared on Facebook, the four individuals are seen driving along a highway in Serbia while wearing clothing featuring Albanian national symbols and references to the concept of “Ethnic Albania.”

According to several Serbian media outlets, the arrests were carried out shortly after the individuals were identified, with police patrols stopping their vehicle. Reports also indicate that the suspects have been placed in 48-hour police detention, and the case is expected to be referred to the prosecution office in Belgrade for further legal proceedings.
