Several protesters threw stones at the Kosovo government building in central Pristina following verdicts issued by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague against former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders.

The building was damaged during the incident, and police arrested one of the protesters, according to the information provided.

A similar protest was held earlier outside the EULEX headquarters in Pristina’s industrial area, where stones were also thrown at the building housing the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo. The protesters later moved toward the Parliament building.

The demonstrations followed the first-instance verdicts against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.

The four former KLA leaders were found guilty of multiple war crimes and sentenced to a combined 81 years in prison. Thaçi was sentenced to 25 years, Veseli to 18 years, Selimi to 13 years and Krasniqi to 25 years.

The verdicts have prompted reactions and protests in Kosovo, while the legal proceedings remain subject to the applicable appeals process.
