Hellenic Park Inaugurated in Tirana

Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis inaugurated this Friday the "Helen Park", which is located in Farka Lake.

The Greek Ambassador to Tirana, Sophia Philippiddou, the EU Ambassador, Luigi Soreca and the Metropolitan of Amantia Nathanaili. Helen Park was realized with the help of the Greek Embassy in Tirana. 

In his speech, Mayor Veliaj said that this park, so pleasant and relaxing for the citizens, is a space dedicated to the excellent relations between the two countries. 

"What connects us to each other is not just the Mediterranean spirit and history, but also our relationship, which is much more than that. Greece is one of those friendly countries that has unreservedly supported us in all our steps of integration into the European Union. Today's gesture, marked with this park, we consider as a sign of gratitude, but also an ornament to celebrate the excellent relations and the special relationship between Tirana and Athens, Albania and Greece", said Veliaj. 

He said that the citizens of Tirana now have another green space where they can spend several hours of calm while underlining that on Sunday the TIRANATHLON shopping mall will take place. 

"In this huge unit now called the new metropolitan municipality of Tirana, they will inherit a fantastic space of 5500 m2, conceived as a multidimensional and comprehensive space for sports activities. We have decorated it with typical Mediterranean vegetation as a unifying element between Albania and Greece, as you have seen olives, or many of the decorative shrubs that are similar in both our countries ", Veliaj affirmed.
