Ambassadors Kim, Soreca and Norman during a visit at DP Headquarters

Highest-Level Diplomats to Go to DP Headquarters

Ambassadors of United States Yuri Kim, European Union Luigi Soreca and Great Britain Duncan Norman will go to Democratic Party (DP) headquarters this Tuesday at 15:00.

The chief diplomats will meet with opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, while DP representative at Political Council, Oerd Bylykbashi and that of Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI), Petrit Vasili will be part of the meeting.

On Monday, the opposition proposed at the Political Council's round-table to seek the opinion of the OSCE / ODIHR on the issue of coalitions.

Meanwhile, representative of ruling majority at Political Council Damian Gjiknuri has invited them to bring until Friday the proposals for the national electoral threshold, the deadlines for the submission of the unique list by the alliances and how the procedural aspect of voting for the candidates in the open lists will be done.

Gjiknuri added that the constitutional changes should be reflected first, then they can address the ODIHR for recommendations.

On the other hand, the United Opposition opposes the constitutional changes and does not want their implementation because coalitions are banned. But another condition has been set by the opposition camp, that the open lists be 100% and not 75%. The majority also does not back down with the opinion that the Open Lists 100% affect the gender quotas while the pre-election coalitions cannot be realized.
