Killers Who Assassinated Vangjelis Zabunis Might Be Albanians

New details have come to light regarding the brutal execution recorded on Saturday evening on "Ilia Iliu" street, in the center of Athens.

44-year-old Vangjelis Zabunis was killed with over 90 bullets in a well-organized assassination attempt. The victim is suspected to have been killed for clearing accounts, as he is considered a mafia in the neighboring country.

There had long been talk in Athens' nightlife that hitmen were wanted for a big job. From the manner of the murder, the way the combs of the weapon were tied, the blow to the head with the pistol bullet to make sure he died show that the executioners were professionals.

According to police leads, the executioner/s are suspected to be contract killers and may also be Albanians. Local media have reported that more than 300,000 euros may have been paid to carry out the assassination.

Securitycameras were able to record the moment when the 44-year-old enters the parked car.  

Seconds later, the perpetrators' car approaches. The latter come out and shoot dozens of times at the car of Vangjelis Zabunis.

Merciless in his act, one of the executioners opens the car door and continues to shoot again, to be more than sure that Zabunin is dead.

A few minutes after the execution at the exit of Athens in the place called Hajdari, the perpetrators' vehicle was also found burnt, an off-road vehicle which turned out to be rented, while inside the vehicle were also the weapons used in the murder.

Hellenic police reported that they found 97 shell casings at the scene and that the assassins are suspected to have used 3 different weapons, at least 2 Kalashnikovs, which were found in the burned car of the perpetrators) and a 9 mm pistol.

Vangjelis Zabunis is accused of some of the most sensational murders in Athens, such as the murder of Stafankos and Griva, the heads of blackmail in Greece; bomb placement and the Panagopoulos robbery.
