The Appeal of the Special Court refused this Monday to release on bail the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

The last, required an easy security measure than 'Arrest in prison' while he is under investigation by the Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) on corruption charges. 

According to the Special Prosecution Office, investigations have revealed an organized corrupt mechanism that allowed the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and his wife, Ajola Xoxa, to benefit from public funds for personal enrichment, through illegal and camouflaged actions.
