Kukes Municipality Plans to Increase Taxes amid Pandemic

Kukes Municipality plans to increase taxes amid pandemic next year. Municipality council is expected to discusses and vote this Wednesday the draft with new taxes that is expected  to affect businesses. 

Albaniandailynews.com has the printed documents which predict the increase of some of the taxes for 2021 in Kukes Municipality, despite the country going through a very difficult economic situation due to Covid-19 pandemic. 

According to the documents, this municipality is expected to increase taxes of infrastructure and for the hotels, but also taxes considered 'temporary'. 

"Infrastructure impact tax for new constructions", will saw a rise from 4% to 6%, as well as the tax on hotels" say documents. 

There are also some temporary taxes: that of air and underground (telephone, electricity and internet) lines.

"One of the temporary taxes is that for air and underground (telephone, electricity, internet). The tax base for overhead and underground line is the linear length per km of overhead and underground lines which is put to use by facilities for business purposes. The tax is calculated as an annual liability of the taxpayer by multiplying the tax base by its indicative level," says the document 

Meanwhile, this municipality proposes even a tax for construction permits.

"For construction permits for residential purposes or service units from construction companies that will not be used for tourism, publicl or industry purposes, a tax of 6% of the sale price is proposed," says statement.
