Lawyer of Haklaj Family Accuses Ex-Premier of Ordering 14 Killings
The lawyer of the Haklaj family, Idajet Beqiri gave details about the testimony given by Aishe Haklaj the day before in Special Prosecution against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK).
The lawyer stated that the Haklaj family, looking at the new justice institutions that have been created, has asked to file a lawsuit for the murder of 4 of its family members.
Their sister gave her testimony a day ago as one of the most important witnesses who was present at the time of the murder of her two brothers and saw the perpetrators who committed this crime.
Among other things, the lawyer gave clarifications regarding the accusations that the Haklaj family has against Sali Berisha as the main suspect of this massacre where, in addition to four Haklaj brothers, they accuse him of having ordered in total 14 murders within Haklaj's tribe.
"In 2021, the Haklaj family, father Muharrem Haklaj, and their older brother Hamdiu and their two sisters, after seeing that SPAK was formed and there was talk of reform in justice, Aisheja came as she is in Sweden and has contacted me to be a family lawyer. After receiving and studying the case for about a year, I came to the conclusion that the criminal proceedings should be conducted and on December 14, 2022, we took the criminal complaint to SPAK. So far, many actions have been taken, and the suspended files have also been received, because there seemed to be a lack of perpetrators, but in fact the policy did not allow such a thing, since it is not a question of a single murder, but only, from this family are 4 brothers, but if we include family relatives, there are 14 from this tribe. After the chain revenge was introduced, blood feud and revenge led to 200 boys who are not alive today", he said.
According to the lawyer, the only culprit in relation to these murders is Sali Berisha himself.
"The main role in this was the role of the organizer, the inspirer, Sali Berisha, the man who gave the orders was the head of this organization together with 15 others who were also employees and police leaders", noted Beqiri.
On Friday, Aishe Haklaj testified around 12 consecutive hours at SPAK regarding her long file against ex-Prime Minister Sali Berisha. Aishe Haklaj is the sister of four brothers, Fatmir, Ylli, Shkelqim and Halil Haklaj, who were people very powerful in Tropoja in 2000s.
