Man Fatally Shot in Laç as Police Launch Investigation
A man was killed in a shooting in the town of Laç on Wednesday evening, prompting a large-scale police investigation to identify those responsible.
The victim was identified by police as Ilir Gjini, also known by the aliases Lika, Kokaj, and Nure, approximately 40 years old. According to authorities, the shooting occurred at around 10:10 p.m. in the municipality of Kurbin.
The victim was rushed to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana but died while being transported for emergency medical treatment.
Police officers responded immediately after receiving reports of the shooting and have launched intensive search operations in the area to locate and apprehend the suspect or suspects.
A special investigative team, working under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is collecting evidence and examining the circumstances surrounding the attack. Authorities say efforts are focused on determining the motive, documenting the crime, and identifying those responsible.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been announced.
