Ministry Updates Floods Situation Around Albania

In the latest update, the Ministry of Defense informs that the situation in Lezhë and Shkodër Districts has improved, after the withdrawal of water from the national roads. 

The Armed and Civil Emergency Forces are currently on the ground and have helped evacuate around 318 residents in Shkodra district, who have taken shelter in dormitories or near their relatives. Also, 57 heads of cattle were evacuated. 

There is a significant improvement in the situation in Lezhë, but the following hours remain critical again, based on weather forecasts for increased rainfall. 

In Lezhë Municipality, the most affected areas are the Dajc, Blinisht, Balldren units, where work is being done to remove water from 24 apartments.

According to the latest data from the National Operational Center of Civil Emergencies in the Civil Protection Agency, there is a significant improvement in the situation created as a result of the rainfall in the country, especially in the two most problematic districts, Shkodër and Lezhë. 

The water has withdrawn from the national road, from the new bridge of Bahçalek and near the Arch of Bërdica, allowing the free circulation of vehicles. 

There is water in about 4356 ha of surface, where the withdrawal is slower, but the situation is being carefully monitored.

The situation regarding the level of the rivers, especially the Drin, Gjadër and Erzen rivers, is also being monitored. The situation in Durrës, Kukës, Dibër is normalized. 

The Armed Forces are on full alert for every need of the residents of these areas and will remain on the ground even during the night hours.
