Muslim Believers Celebrate Eid al-Adha

Muslim believers celebrate Eid al-Adha this Sunday. Thousands of citizens of the Muslim faith prayed this Saturday morning for Eid al-Adha in the "Skënderbej" square. After the religious rites and the Eid prayer, they dispersed to their homes, where they continue with the visits of relatives.

The head of the Muslim Community of Albania, Bajram Spahiu, in his message, focused on a number of issues, among which the departure of young people and poverty. There was also a message from the Muslim believers present in the square.

So, this day marks the will of Ibrahim (Abraham in the Bible) to sacrifice his son, according to God's orders. Muslims mark this day by sacrificing a sheep or a goat. The meat is shared among family members, friends and donated to the poor.

The pilgrimage to Mecca is an obligation for the Muslim faithful, which must be performed once in a lifetime by all Muslims who can afford the trip, both financially and health-wise.
