Natural Immunity Protects against Delta Variant More than 2 Pfizer Doses; Study Reveals

Epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti, through a status on social networks, has posted a new study, which explained that natural immunity protects more and longer than the immunity obtained from the injection of the vaccine.

Referring to a study from Tel Aviv University in Israel, the doctor says that from the samples taken, it turns out that a person who has passed the virus, but not vaccinated, has 13.6 times more protection against the Delta variant, 27 times more many from symptomatic infections and 5.06 times more from hospitalizations.

In the conclusion of the authors of this study, Dr. Alimehmeti quotes that: “Compared to two doses of Pfizer, natural immunity offers longer and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease and hospitalization caused by the Delta variant of SARS-CoV -2 ”.

Full post:

Nature never fails us, even against the Delta variant! The vaccine also works, but remains in second place whenever it competes against Nature.

Researchers at the University of Tel Aviv and the insurance fund Maccabi Healthcare Services studied and compared the effectiveness against the Delta variant in:

673,676 persons vaccinated but not previously infected,

62,883 previously infected and unvaccinated, and

42,099 previously vaccinated and infected.

The effects are completely expected but now they also take on a numerical dimension!

Results when the groups enter the race at the same time, ie when the natural infection or vaccination occurred in the same period (January-February 2021):

Compared to the Pfizer vaccine, natural immunity (infected and unvaccinated) protects:

13.06 times more than Delta infections,

27.02 times more than symptomatic Delta infections,

8.06 times more than Delta hospitalizations.

Results when the time of the infection has passed or when the vaccine has been taken, which means that the infection occurred many months ago and starts at a disadvantage with the vaccine:

Compared to the Pfizer vaccine, natural immunity (infected and unvaccinated) protects:

5.96 times more than Delta infections,

7.13 times more than symptomatic Delta infections,

7.03 times more than Delta hospitalizations.

What happens when previously infected and unvaccinated are compared to previously infected and vaccinated?

Vaccinated previously infected persons:

The risk of infection decreases statistically significantly by 47%

The risk of symptomatic infection does not decrease significantly (p = 0.194).

The better protection against natural immunity shown in this analysis can be explained by the broader immune response against SARS-CoV-2 proteins compared to the response generated only against the spike protein that the vaccine makes.

Authors' conclusions:

Compared to two doses of Pfizer, natural immunity provides longer and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic illness, and hospitalization caused by the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2.

Individuals previously infected and receiving a single dose of the vaccine received additional protection against the Delta variant.

Post Scriptum:

Not a single death was recorded in any of the groups!” Alimehmeti writes.
