Italy, New Details on Albanian Singer’s Arrest Revealed
Well-known Albanian singer Elsa Lila was among the 9 people arrested today by the Italian police during the crackdown on an organized criminal group dealing with drug trafficking in Italy.
Italian police finalized this Wednesday morning the operation for the arrest of 13 people where so far only 9 of them have fallen into handcuffs. According to the media, the group consisted of Albanians and Italians.
Lila, as it is reported in the media, kept accounts of drug sales by other members of the criminal group.
The famous singer was born in Tirana but had moved to the neighboring country of Italy. Her father was a singer while her mother a violinist. This made both parents nurture in her a love for music and theater.
Elsa had shown talent for music since she was a child in the Albanian state television shows. In 1996, when she was only 15 years old, Elsa Lila won the national competition of Albanian song. In 1998 he took part in an international song contest in Bulgaria, grabbing everyone 's attention. In the same year she represented Albania at Lisboa Expo 98, holding a concert.
In 1999, only 18 years old, Lila was elected "Albanian Singer of the Century" by the national voting of the Albanian Radio and Television.
In 2007 Elsa Lila took part in the 57th Sanremo Song Contest with the song "Il senso della vita" preceding the album she released that spring.
In 2018 Elsa Lila was accused of copyright theft by renowned composer Genti Lako. He accused Lila of stealing "My lips were dry" sung in its original form by Eranda Libohova.
