No New Year Celebrations Outside Home

Everyone should celebrate New Year's Eve with the family. This is not only an advice by the health experts in Albania but it is expected to be a rule soon as lockdown restrictions are planned to last even next year.

Health expert said this Sunday that 'stay-at-home' order after 22:00 pm will be extended even on the New Year's Eve. The Chief of Epidemiology at the Public Health Institute, Silva Bino informed that lockdown will not change on the weeks to come and Albanians will be forced to stay home every night from 22:00 pm to 06:00 am even during New Year's Eve celebrations.

According to Bino the strict rules aimed at fighting the coronavirus in the country as cases and hospitalizations surge around nationwide

"Restrictions rules will not change. As these days, even on December 31, at 22:00 pm everything will be closed. Holiday meetings and celebrations increase the number of cases and deaths. I would recommend that everyone make the New Year with his family and not with a group. But it does not depend only on me, but on a group of experts. What I recommend is that people be isolated as much as possible. To protect our people and especially the elderly," said Bino.

Current covid-19 hospitalizations have skyrocketed in the past month reaching 500 as government try to prevent health system from being overwhelmed during the holiday season.
