Accused for Drugs Cultivation, Llanaj Released from Prison

Court of Vlora has changed the security measure against Ferdinand Llanaj from "Prison arrest" to "Home arrest", after he was arrested by the RENEA Special Forces and the Directorate of the Special Operational Force.

The charges against Llanaj, known by the nickname "Robi" are related to the cultivation of narcotic plants and eight months after his arrest, Judge Mirela Mishgjoni changed the security measure against the 44-year-old with a criminal record.

On August 27, 2021, the State Police announced the results of the operation codenamed "Otima", when among the three arrested persons, was also 44-year-old Llanaj.

These citizens, in cooperation with each other, had cultivated a considerable number of cannabis sativa plants in the premises of Llanaj's apartment and in the premises around a building owned by this citizen, in the place called "Otima Stream", in Selenica.

During the controls exercised in these premises, a quantity of cannabis narcotics, 4 vehicles, two of them armored, 6 mobile phones and a large amount of money were found and seized as material evidence.

The seizure of 600 cannabis sativa plants in the growing process as well as a small amount of bottles in Llanaj's apartment took him back to the hands of the Police.

Five years ago, on October 1, 2017, on the Trans-Balkan Road, he was shot with automatic volleys, while traveling with his friend, Dritan Begaj, as well as a minor.

He escaped the assassination, remaining wounded. The assassination brought back the old criminal events of the Llanaj tribe, dating back to 1998, where they were involved in a conflict with the Xhaferraj family, where Baftjar Llanaj's brother-in-law was killed, and a member of the Xhaferraj tribe was wounded shortly afterwards.

Five years later, in 2003, one of Petraj's brothers was killed. The retaliation started would continue in June 2011, when 62-year-old Baftjar Llanaj was executed with an automatic weapon in a place called "Bishti i Malit".

The serious incident happened on June 14, 2011 around 18:00 on the road that connects the town of Selenica with Vlora, in a place called "Mountain Tail".

According to Vlora Police sources at the time, 60-year-old Llanaj was ambushed, being shot with automatic volleys by at least two people.

After the crime, the Police arrested the perpetrator Sako Xhaferaj, the grandson of Gjysho Xhaferaj, as Sako had himself been injured in this serious event.

In September 2011, an attempt was made to kill Nihat Xhaferaj, the son of the victim Gjysho Xhaferaj killed in 1998. The perpetrator was caught and identified as Altin Aliaj, the nephew of the Llanaj family.

Altin Aliaj was arrested after the crime, but was later released by the Court. In January 2012, Nure Xhaferri, 52, the other son of Gjysho Xhaferaj, was assassinated.
