Opposition Leader Berisha Vows Escalation of Protests Against Government
Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha said Monday that Albania is facing “autocracy” under Prime Minister Edi Rama, warning that protests will intensify and spread nationwide following a ?????? demonstration held a day earlier in the capital.
Speaking at a press conference from the Democratic Party headquarter Monday, Berisha praised what he described as a powerful and dignified protest organized by the opposition in front of the Prime Minister’s Office on March 22.
“Albanians showed yesterday that they are invincible against this regime,” Berisha said, calling the demonstration a reflection of “the anger of an entire nation.”
He framed the protest as a historic moment, adding that “never before has a peaceful uprising been more powerful in Albania’s history.”
Berisha also delivered a direct message to Prime Minister Rama, arguing that stability cannot exist under current political conditions.
“In Albania, under the conditions of Edi Rama’s autocratic rule, there is no peace and there can be no stability,” he said.
The opposition leader further warned that the movement, which began in Tirana, will expand across the country and continue until the government is removed.
“Our battle will only intensify and will involve all of Albania. It will be uninterrupted until the final departure of Edi Rama,” Berisha said.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to the tens of thousands of citizens who took part in the protest, describing their participation as both peaceful and resolute.
