Patient Dies as Ambulance Loses Control in Tirana-Durres Highway
An ambulance has slipped off the road the first hours of this Sunday morning in Durres-Tirana motorway, due to which the 71-year-old patient inside the medical vehicle has passed away.
Police authorities have revealed that the unfortunate event took place at 03:45, when the citizen I. D., 51 years old, resident in Saranda, lost control of the ambulance and went off the road.
Meanwhile, the deceased patient in the ambulance that lost her life is citizen A. Sh., 71 years old.
Afterwards, the ambulance driver was accompanied to the Police premises for further actions and the investigative group is working to clarify the circumstances of the event.
On late Saturday, Albania's Civil Emergency Department informed the country has been swept across by freezing rain and heavy snowfalls, resulting in deterioration of circulation in several road segments.
Snow has covered the southeast and north of Albania but even cities as Durresi and Tirana, while local authorities reported some road axes in villages were blocked.
