PM Says US-Israel Operation Against Iran ‘Justified,’ Dismisses Threats to Albania
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said an ongoing military operation by the United States and Israel against Iran is justified, arguing that what he described as Tehran’s aggression must come to an end.
Speaking on his podcast “Flasim,” Sunday, Rama said the escalating tensions in the Middle East have political and humanitarian implications for many countries, including Albania. He added that Albanian diplomatic and consular services in the region are maintaining constant contact with local authorities to ensure the safety of Albanian citizens.
“The situation remains complex, and it is difficult to predict how the offensive launched by the United States, in close alliance with Israel, will end,” Rama said, adding that the goal is to prevent Iran’s leadership from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Rama stressed that Albania is not facing any direct threats and dismissed claims circulating in the country about a potential attack as rumors and misinformation. According to him, Albania’s security is guaranteed through its membership in NATO.
The prime minister also noted that Albanian authorities are closely monitoring the safety of their citizens in the Middle East, while flight disruptions and regional instability remain a challenge for many countries.
Rama said Albania maintains strong relations with both Israel and several Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
He also expressed solidarity with countries affected by the regional escalation, including Cyprus, Greece and Turkey, while urging the public to rely on official sources for information about the evolving security situation.
