A 37-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn seven-month-old baby died on Monday after she was transferred from a hospital in Pogradec to Tirana for specialized medical treatment.

According to local reports, the woman had initially gone to Pogradec Hospital after experiencing health problems. Following medical consultations and examinations, doctors decided that she should be transferred to Tirana for further and more specialized care.

Her condition reportedly deteriorated while she was being transported. The emergency occurred near Elbasan, where the woman is said to have developed vomiting and was suspected of suffering from possible internal bleeding.

The exact circumstances and cause of the deaths have not yet been established.

Authorities are expected to carry out the necessary procedural steps, while a forensic autopsy is expected to help determine the precise cause of death.
