President Commemorates Birthday of Rannaissance's Activist

President of the Republic, Ilir Meta commemorated this Saturday the 150th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished activist of the National Renaissance, Josif Bageri. 

In a message on ‘Facebook’, Meta writes that Bageri was a poet of rare talent, prose writer, journalist and prominent publicist, who dedicated his whole life and work to the national cause. 

"'Our desire and goal is to wake the nation from a deep sleep and to see it embark on the path of civilization and culture.' 

Today, on the 150th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished activist of the National Renaissance, Josif Bageri, we honor the memory and unforgettable work of the Albanian orthodox linguist and patriot from Reka of North Macedonia, in order to spread knowledge, the highest feelings of patriotism and the most unifying values ​​of Albanians. 

A poet of rare talent, prominent prose writer, journalist and publicist, he devoted his entire life and work to the national cause, in particular the teaching, protection and promotion of the Albanian language, becoming a model and example of inspiration for generations of Albanians in all the lands where they live, especially in North Macedonia, for the protection of our national and European identity," Meta emphasized.
