Prominent Albanian Poet Passes Away at 74 Years of Age
Famous Albanian writer Bardhyl Londo passed away Friday, at the age of 74 due to a serious illness, with which he could not cope.
A few days ago, one of his friends posted a post on Facebook stating that the poet "was struggling in these difficult days with death."
Friends and family have shared this Friday, February 18, the news of his death.
On its part, the National Center for Books and Reading has also posted the news on the social networks.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the death at the age of 74 of the poet Bardhyl Londo, one of the most important names in Albanian poetry, former editor of the newspaper "Drita", former President of the League of Writers and Artists until in 1998. At the National Prizes for Literature organized by the NLC and the Ministry of Culture in 2021, he won the award for the poetic volume "Bitter April" as the best poetic work”, said the National Center for Books and Reading.
However, Bardhyl Londo was born in 1948 in Përmet. Studied language and literature at the University of Tirana. After graduating from the faculty he worked for several years as a teacher in Përmet and then for the literary newspaper "Drita".
For some time, he has been the president of the "League of Writers and Artists" (LSHA). His literary creativity includes 8 volumes of poetry as well as several novels. He is the winner of the "Migjeni" award.
