Qatar Donates Medical Equipment for Albania
State of Qatar continues its support for the health system in Albania, donating through the Qatar Charity Office in Tirana, a quantity of modern high quality medical equipment, which will serve in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. These devices were delivered at the University Hospital Center "Mother Teresa".
The handover ceremony was attended by the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Qatar, Nada Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed and the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mira Rakacolli.
On this occasion the parties signed the equipment acceptance agreement, which was signed by the director of the Qatar Charity Office, Mr. Sheikh Abu Saif and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Geraldina Prodani.
During the meeting, the Charge d'Affaires stressed that today's assistance comes in the framework of the ongoing support that Qatar has provided to Albania during the Covid-19 pandemic period, where on May 14, 2020 arrived at Tirana International Airport a shipment of emergency medical assistance donated by the Qatari Development Fund.
"This support shows the solid and friendly relations between the two countries," said the Charge d'Affaires, adding that the Embassy will spare no effort to further develop and strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation, in the interest of both countries and friendly peoples.
Also, Nada Al-Sayed praised the role and contribution of the Qatar Charity Office in Albania during the Covid-19 pandemic, distributing aid to families in need throughout the country, in addition to other humanitarian activities it has conducted over the years in Albania.
Moreover, the Charge d'Affaires said that the State of Qatar will always support the Republic of Albania and the Albanian people, especially in difficult times like the one that the whole world is going through today. She expressed her condolences to the victims of the Coronavirus and wished a speedy recovery to those affected, as well as wished the Republic of Albania to overcome as soon as possible the current pandemic situation and its health and economic effects.
For her part, Rakacolli expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation for the continued support provided by Qatar in all areas, including health, especially the latest medical assistance provided during the Covid-19 pandemic period.
"Medical equipment donated today by Qatar increases the capacity of the Albanian health system and further improves medical services for our citizens," said Rakacolli, stressing that the equipment has come at the right time to cope with the influx of coronavirus in the country.
