Renowned Composer Agim Krajka Passes Away
Well-known composer Agim Krajka has passed away at the age of 83. The news is announced by his son, who has shared the sad news about the death of the man who gave a lot to Albanian music.
"I wish your soul rest in heaven our dear father", writes his son, Ulis Krajka.
Agim Krajka was born in Kavaja, on May 3, 1937, in a family of Dibra origin. His father played several musical instruments, such as violin, mandolin, accordion. Agimi's love and passion for music were born in his childhood, which was nurtured by his father.
In 1963 Krajka began his studies in theory and composition and completed them in 1968. He completed the Composition branch under the direction of the great Cesk Zadeja. In 1960 he started working in the Army Ensemble where he worked for 2 years. In the years 1962-1964 he joined Radio Tirana as an accordionist and conductor of a small instrumental complex.
The year 1964 finds him near the Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances; first as an instrumentalist, then as a composer and conductor. His musical activity is very wide.
He has written music in many genres and has become famous for both light and popular music, elaborated and orchestral. He has composed many orchestral pieces for accordion and hundreds of songs of light music.
He has participated in many music festivals until the last festivals of the '90s, starting with the famous song "Lemza", sung by Vaçe Zela at the First Radio Song Festival in 1961. He has been honored with over 15 awards.
Agim Krajka has written a cycle of arrangements of folk songs for canto and piano, youth overture, romance for violin and symphony orchestra, folk dance suite for symphony orchestra, etc.
The music of the movies "Happy couple", "Lady from the city", "Lady from the village", "Guerrilla unit" etc. Stage ballet music with an act "Vigilant Craftsmen" performed by TKOB in 1981.
In addition to the above works, he has delivered many dance motifs which have been honored with first prizes such as: Librazhd dance, Tirana dance, Cham dance, etc.
For his activity and artistic contribution he has been awarded prizes, orders and medals and holds the title: Grand Master.
