Serbian List Threatens to Abandon Kosovo Institutions

The Serbian List on Monday once again threatened to leave Kosovo's institutions if a compromise solution is not reached for the license plates and the entry-exit document of Kosovo.

"First the politicians, and then everyone in turn, the prosecutors, the judges, and the police," said Goran Rakiq, chairman of the Serbian List, during a speech to certain Serbian media in northern Kosovo.

"In this way, there will be a total dissolution of the Brussels dialogue", he added.

The Serbian List reiterated that it has given full support to the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu?i?, to find a compromise solution in the next 10 days, but with the guarantee that the "persecution and pogrom" of the Serbian people will not be allowed.

Official Belgrade opposes Kosovo's recent decision to issue entry/exit documents to those who hold Serbian documents after entering Kosovo. They are especially against the fact that such a thing applies to the Serbs in the north of Kosovo, where there are four municipalities with a Serb majority.

Serbia has issued such a document to the citizens of Kosovo since it was agreed in Brussels between the two parties in 2011.

In addition to that document, the Kosovar authorities have also decided that all vehicles with license plates issued by Serbia for the cities of Kosovo should be re-registered in those of the Republic of Kosovo - RKS. Cars with license plates such as KM, PR and similar have so far moved only in the north.

Because of such decisions, the Serbs in the north erected barricades in this part before the start of their implementation on August 1, only to remove them after the Government of Kosovo postponed the implementation for a month.

In last week's meeting between the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu?i?, and the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in Brussels, no agreement was reached on this issue. Serbia requested that the issuance of the Kosovo document not be valid for citizens in the north of Kosovo and that the vehicles be re-registered with status-neutral license plates, KS, instead of RKS.

Vucic said at the Sunday conference that Kosovo rejected such a thing, but added that in the next 10 days it will seek a compromise solution.
