Speaker of Parliament, Gramoz Ruci has sent a letter to the parties in the Parliament calling for the establishment of the Commission for the election of Central Election Commission (CEC) members.

The deadline for the parties to nominate members is September 9, 2020, while the decision to set up the Commission is expected to be taken at the Conference of Chairmen.

"Based on article 17 point 3 of law no. 101/2020 "On some additions and changes to law no. 10019, dated 29.12.2008 "The Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania" as amended ", the Parliament has the obligation to set up a special parliamentary commission, with proportional representation from each parliamentary group, to review and select the nominations submitted for the position of Commissioner, members of the Regulatory and the KAS.

I would like to inform you that your proposal for a member of the special commission must be submitted to the Assembly within 09.09.2020," Ruci wrote.
