The Hague Seeks Kosovo Politician to Testify on KLA Engagement

Former MP of Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Latif Gashi has been called by the Special Court in The Hague to testify. He will be summoned for his involvement in the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during Kosovo's war against Serbia on August 27, 2020.

The news was made public Wednesday by Gashi on a “Facebook” post, where he guaranteed that the war for Kosovo’s liberation has been fair and decisive and will remain so. He underlined their triumph in the war came thanks to support at home and abroad and the help by NATO, led by the US.

“I notify you that today I have accepted a phone call from an investigator for interview from the Special Court in The Hague. This interview will be done on August 27, 2020.

As in many so far processes for freedom and independence: the early illegal, the illegal and formation of the KLA, KLA’s war. The process of Independence and that of state building

Court processes by UNMIK court, the one from the EULEX Court, (a total of 16 years in the service of international justice). Only to fulfill international standards unjust towards KLA’s war”, declared Gashi.

Earlier, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci was accused of war crimes by a special international prosecutor in The Hague. Thaci and others "are criminally responsible for nearly 100 murders", torture and enforced disappearances, as the prosecutor said. The accusations - covering Kosovo's independence war against Serbia - are being assessed by a judge at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers who will decide if the case goes to trial, but Thaci has denied any wrongdoing.
