Three North Macedonian Officials Reportedly Denied Entry into Albania at Qafë Thanë Border Crossing
Three officials from North Macedonia were reportedly stopped by Albanian border police at the Qafë Thanë border crossing earlier today.
According to North Macedonian broadcaster TV21, the individuals involved are Bekim Qoku, coordinator of the VLEN parliamentary group and Member of Parliament, MP Adnan Azizi, and Hasim Murtezani, Deputy Secretary General of the Government of North Macedonia.
The officials claim they attempted to enter Albania using diplomatic passports but were held at the border crossing for approximately one hour without receiving an explanation from the authorities.
After the delay, a border police officer reportedly informed them that three members of the group could continue their journey, while a fourth individual accompanying them would not be permitted to cross the border.
In protest, the group decided to return. According to their statements, they were subsequently informed that they had been banned from entering Albania.
TV21 further reports that the alleged entry ban is linked to suspicions that the officials had been involved in organizing protests in Tirana known as the "Flamingo Revolution."
As of now, Albanian authorities have not publicly commented on the reported incident or the reasons behind the alleged entry restrictions.
